Who We Are . . .
ENCORE is an association of retirement-age people who share a love of learning. Established
in 2001 by a steering committee of retired adults, ENCORE is sponsored by Clatsop
Community College.
ENCORE is an affiliate of the Elderhostel Institute Network (EIN)
and the Association of Learning in Retirement Organizations of the West. There are
hundreds of colleges and universities with programs that are independent of one another,
but linked to EIN. These associations help us to learn from other Institutes about
curriculum and organizational structure.
Who Can Be A Member . . .
ENCORE is a membership organization open to retired and semi-retired adults 50 and
over who enjoy intellectual stimulation and the opportunity to meet new friends.
Dues ($50.00) are paid annually, entitling you to enroll in any of the ENCORE course offerings. (except
for occasional fees on special classes determined by members).
Where and When . . .
ENCORE holds classes on the campus of Clatsop Community College and off campus in
Seaside and Warrenton. Classes meet during the daytime.
What We Offer . . .
ENCORE offers short-term courses, which are often led by members and cover a wide
range of topics, including science, health, art, music, literature, history, writing,
religion and current events.
- No tests or grades
- No compulsory attendance
- No homework . . just plenty of enjoyment, enrichment, and friendship!
ENCORE provides life-long learning opportunities for older adults.
It is sponsored by Clatsop Community College, but is run entirely by its members.
Members decide what they want to learn and how they want to learn it. They put on
their own classes, invite guest speakers, discuss current issues, read plays and
keep their minds active.
FREE CLASS
Anyone interested in the ENCORE experience may "try one for free." You
may enjoy one session of any class at no cost or obligation. We know
you'll want more!
