Cannon Beach
Six miles south of Seaside along U.S. Highway 101, this artistic
enclave fronts the ocean and magnificent Haystack Rock. Its placid
streets are ideal for strolling,
shopping and enjoying the eye-catching scenery. If you enjoy
beachcombing, the town's
two-mile shore is an exceptional place to do it. So is Ecola
State Park, which takes its name from the Clatsop Indian word for
whale. The 1,300-acre
park has two accessible
beaches, including a popular surfing spot as well as hiking
trails and picnic grounds.
