CCC Nursing Program

Nurses at all levels need to be caring and relate well to people of different backgrounds and cultures. As a nurse, you need to be able to adapt to change, think critically, and respond during crises. Personal integrity and ethical behavior are essential for nurses. The nursing program is academically and physically rigorous. As a nursing student, you need to be able to grasp scientific concepts, set up and answer basic math and algebra problems, and communicate well verbally and in writing. Physically, you need to be able to remain on your feet for extended periods, lift up to 40 pounds, hear heart and breath sounds and use a telephone, read fine print, and identify skin tones such as pale, ashen, gray, or bluish. If you have a history of substance abuse or mental health problems or a criminal record, you may wish to speak with a nursing advisor prior to pursuing nursing as a career.
