Developmental Education
| We offer a variety of programs to help you improve your basic skills and prepare
you to move ahead in your learning. These include: - College preparation courses in Practical Communication, Paragraph Writing, Reading Effectiveness and Math. - Tutoring in reading, writing and spoken English through the Volunteer Literacy program. - General Educational Development (GED) certificate preparation classes in reading, writing, math and other subjects that will get you ready to take the GED test. |
The GED is accepted as a substitute for a high school diploma by many employers,
apprenticeship programs and colleges throughout the United States. More information on GED - English as a Second Language (ESL) classes that help non-English speaking students gain reading, writing and speaking skills. Free classes are available in Astoria and Seaside, and you can begin any time during the term. More information on ESL classes The Learning Skills Center, on the first floor of the library, can help you sign up for these programs. |
