Alternative Energy Forum
Mark your calendars for February 11 for a forum you won’t
want to miss! “Building a Path to Energy Independence: a Forum
on Alternative Energy Sources” is co-sponsored by the Astoria branch
of American Association of University Women and Clatsop Community College.
This forum
will offer a comprehensive overview of our current sources and use
of energy (both nationwide and in Clatsop County), global warming, future
availability and prices, state and federal energy policies and the
need
for energy efficiency and development of alternative energies.
Participants are from the Oregon Department of Energy, Energy Trust
of Oregon, Oregon State University, Interfaith Power and Light, the
Titanic
Lifeboat Academy, and Astoria High School. There will be presentations
on alternative energy sources including solar, wind, wave, and bio-fuels.
Two Astoria High School students will explain their Senior Projects
dealing with bio-fuels.
The conference is being offered free of charge as a community service
by AAUW and Clatsop Community College. Lunch will be provided thanks
to a generous donation from Astoria Rotary.
The luncheon at 12:30 p.m. features a topic of interest to all of us
- “Clatsop County Energy Plan: Resources, Planning, and Conservation”.
Mark Kendall of the Oregon Department of Energy and the lead developer
of this plan, will be the speaker.
The forum is Saturday, February 11, from 9:00-4:00 at Clatsop Community
College, Third Floor of Patriot Hall. Don’t miss it!
