Clatsop Community College is pleased to announce that its progress report
on Educational Outcomes and Assessment has been accepted by the Northwest
Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). NWCCU is the College's
accrediting agency.
The progress report was the culmination of several months’ effort
by college faculty, staff and members of the community to identify appropriate
learning outcomes for each of the College’s degree and certificate
programs. Acceptance of the report by NWCCU not only resolves all recommendations
resulting from the 2001 Accreditation Visit, it also affirms the College’s
efforts to more tightly link its curriculum to the learning needs of
students and the community.
“We are very pleased with NWCCU’s response to our progress
report,” says
Vice President of Instruction, Sheila Ruhland. “We continue to
work on developing assessment measures, but this is a very big leap forward
in making sure that we match our curriculum to what our students need
from their experience at Clatsop Community College.”
CCC President Greg Hamann, concurs, stating “This is an accomplishment
in which we can all take pride as it affirms our shared commitment to
provide real educational opportunity that meets the needs of our community.
I want to add a special thanks to all who contributed their efforts to
this report and the work it represents, especially the entire faculty
and the Office of Instruction.”
