CCC OFFERS NEW COMMUNITY EDUCATION CLASSES
Clatsop Community College has something for everyone this Spring with
its community education offerings in Seaside, Astoria and Cannon Beach.
CCC’s community education is coordinating classes with Sunset Empire
Parks & Recreation, which is enabling us to expand our offerings
due to the use of their facilities. The College is delighted to renew
our long standing relationship and looks forward to offering many more
classes in the coming terms. For Spring term, we are able to offer Conversational
Japanese at the Bob Chisholm Community Center, as well as Conversational
French and Spanish at the South County Center.
Our fitness classes are building as well. We now offer Belly Dancing,
Beginning Yoga, Soaring Crane Qigong, Chuan-fa Kung Fu, and although
it is not listed in the Spring schedule, we are offering T’ai Chi
Chih twice a week in the Sunset Pool fitness room. Popular Chef Tom Seavers
returns to the kitchen at Seaside High School to show us how to make
healthy hors d’ouevres from fresh northwest ingredients.
Due to increased enrollment, we are now able to offer a second Conversational
Spanish class at the main campus in Astoria. In addition, we have our
popular Oil Painting classes, a Jewelry Making class, Stained Glass,
and Black and White Photography. Our regular Energetics, Exercise for
Seniors, Aquatic Dynamics and Aquatic Fitness classes continue. New to
the main campus, however, are our Taekwon-do classes. But if T’ai
Chi Chih is more your style, then come to the Art Center Gallery and
refresh yourself with our noontime class.
A brand new class we’re offering in Astoria this spring is Dress
for Success in the Workplace. Learn how to dress appropriately for interviews
and how to build your workplace wardrobe while staying on a budget.
Of course there’s our Computers for Seniors in both Astoria and
Seaside, and our Aerobic Exercise and Steps continues in Cannon Beach.
Guitar, flute and piano lessons are also on the schedule as well as Basic
Fly Tying, Safe Boating and Motorcycle Rider Safety Classes.
As we continue to build our community education classes, we are inviting
the community to contact us with other classes they’d like to have
offered.
We encourage all interested people to pre-register and this can be done
at the South County Center at 1455 N. Roosevelt; at the main campus in
Astoria; or by phoning Registration at 503.338.2437. The Spring schedules
have a registration form that can be faxed to 503.325.5738. Pre-registration
is recommended in order to give an indication of enrollment. The College
reserves the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment.
For further information about any of the classes, please call Community
Education at 338-2473, 338-2408 or email lmorrisson@clatsopcc.edu. The
spring term begins April 3 and registration is well underway.
