CCC presents “A Constitutional Conversation”

In recognition of National Constitution Day, Clatsop Community College will present “A Constitutional Conversation,” a replay of the 2005 C-SPAN program to help inform the public about the key role of the United States Constitution in the lives of the country’s citizens. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 27 in Patriot Hall, Room 322 at CCC’s Astoria Campus.

The 65-minute program includes appearances by a panel of US Supreme Court Justices and is moderated by Tim Russert of NBC Television’s Meet the Press. The justices talk about the role and operation of the Supreme Court, the state of civics knowledge and education, and the evolution of democratic institutions and principles during periods of societal change. They also talk about constitutional interpretation, judicial precedents, federalism and various issues before the court. The event was held at the National Archives McGowan Theater and was sponsored by the National Constitution Center and the Aspen Institute.

Following the program, those attending will have an opportunity to discuss their thoughts about the Constitution and the comments of the justices in the program.
This presentation is open to the public and admission is free. For more information, contact Dean Tom Gill, (503) 338-2368.
