CCC Faculty and Board Agree on Contract

The Board and faculty of Clatsop Community College have agreed on a five-year contract that, among other benefits, will give faculty an average four percent salary increase this year. In the remaining four years of the contract, salary increases will be based on the consumer price index, but with a guaranteed two percent minimum and four percent maximum increase.

In addition to salary increases, the contract also addresses such issues as annual step increases, benefits, workload and professional development.

“We’re very satisfied with this contract,” said Jo Black, Faculty Association President. “We’re pleased that we, the faculty and the College, have finished negotiating a contract in time for all of us to get on with our real work of teaching and learning. The beginning of a new academic year is always exciting and we’re eager to meet our students and get going.”

During its meeting to ratify the new contract, faculty also voted unanimously to support the College’s efforts to build a new campus.

“Our students bring tremendous capabilities and effort to their experience at CCC,” said Dr. Julie Brown. “We owe it to them to provide a learning environment that helps them reach their full potential and also tells them we are proud of them.”
