CCC Offers Training on the National Incident Management System

Clatsop Community College is offering training sessions to help local agencies and interested citizens learn about the National Incident Management System or NIMS.

The NIMS Introductory Course meets the requirements of Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) courses IS-700 and ICS-100.

The course will be taught in Seaside and Astoria, as follows:

In Seaside at the CCC South County Center, 1455 S. Roosevelt Drive
            September 12, Wednesday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
            September 22, Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Astoria at the CCC’s Jerome Avenue Campus, Patriot Hall room 322
            September 15, Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
            September 20, Thursday, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m

Many public and private sector employees who respond to disasters are required to have this training. Such employees may include police officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, public utility workers, and anyone with a direct or management role in emergency preparedness, incident management or response. The course is also a requirement to maintain agency eligibility for disaster preparedness grants from the Federal government.

Cost is $35 per person (lunch not included) or $50 to obtain 1 credit through Clatsop Community College.
