Individuals with a commitment to community
and a willingness to complete a challenging program are encouraged to
participate in the 2007-08 Clatsop
Leadership Forum. Beginning its third year this September, the Clatsop
Leadership Forum is designed to develop informed and committed leaders
for Clatsop County, and has already engaged over 30 individuals representing
a diverse cross-section of the community from public, private and non-profit
organizations.
“The forum is a wonderful opportunity to experience a wealth of professional
and personal growth,” said 2006 Forum Graduate Andrea Tenner. “I
built a solid foundation of communication and critical thinking skills,
successful interpersonal relationships and community awareness. The Forum
helps to cultivate future leaders who wish to make a difference in our
community.”
The Clatsop Leadership Forum is a nine-month training program for current
or emerging leaders, to help them acquire an understanding of the critical
issues of leadership and to promote the exchange of ideas and personal
networks throughout the region.
The 2007-08 Forum will be held on Thursdays from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. September
20, 2007 through May 15, 2008 at Clatsop Community College’s South
County Campus, 1455 N. Roosevelt Drive in Seaside.
Participants ages 16 and up and from all sectors of the community are welcome —business,
government, non-profits, health care, education and more. During the training,
participants engage in a variety of activities geared to define good leadership,
identify the various leadership styles, strengthen interpersonal communication
skills, explore problem solving techniques and learn how peer support and
team dynamics count in the workplace.
The Forum provides a natural networking opportunity. Members are also able
to discover new areas of interest through cross-industry discussion on
topics brought to the forum by other participants The Forum process also
places a high value on accountability. Forum facilitator Marge Cieri, a
leadership trainer popular throughout Oregon, encourages members to share
responsibilities for every aspect of the training. Each month, participants
develop community discussion panels comprised of business and industry
leaders from around the region.
The Clatsop Leadership Forum belongs to the community and is a resource
for every organization that wants to succeed.
The fee to participate in the 2008-08 Clatsop Leadership Forum is $795.
Scholarships are available. The deadline to register is September 13, 2007.
