CCC Welcomes New Vice President of Instruction

Dr. Stephen Schoonmaker has been hired as Vice President of Instruction at Clatsop Community College where he will oversee all credit and non-credit instruction at the college. Dr. Schoonmaker is coming to Clatsop from Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay, where he has served as Vice President of Instruction and Student Services. He will assume his duties at CCC in mid-October.

"I am looking forward to working with the faculty, staff, and students at
Clatsop," says Schoonmaker. "I also am excited to be joining the College's leadership team at an important juncture in terms of developing a learning environment that more fully meets the needs of students and the community. I am pleased to offer my experience and background to this effort."

Dr. Schoonmaker's academic credentials include a doctorate in Educational Administration from New Mexico State University, a masters in College Student
Personnel Administration from Western Illinois University and a bachelors in Sociology from the University of Vermont. A native Vermonter, he is no stranger to Oregon higher education having worked in the 1980's and 1990's at Willamette University in Salem, Reed College in Portland, and Western Oregon University in Monmouth. Prior to returning to Oregon in 2005, he spent several years working as an administrator and faculty member at a branch 2-year campus of the University of New Mexico in Los Lunas and at Central New Mexico Community College in Albuquerque.
