11th Annual Business Leaders of Tomorrow Skills Conference Brings Students Closer To Their Professional Dreams

Approximately 170 students from Rainier, Clatskanie, Knappa, Astoria and Seaside high schools participated in the 11th annual Business Leaders of Tomorrow Regional Skills Conference on April 9, 2008 at the Seaside Civic & Convention Center in Seaside, OR. The event’s activities included skill competitions, a leadership workshop developed by Astoria High School, and a discussion group focusing on the topics Entrepreneurship and Dress for Success (featuring Nordstrom representatives).

North Coast Educational Consortium of Clatsop Community College sponsored the Business Leaders of Tomorrow Skills Conference. The conference is an extension of regional high school business education programs. Its main goal is to enhance the building of student self-esteem through achievements in course work.

This year's keynote speaker was Rick Minniefield, a Professional Speaker Leadership Consultant.  Mr. Minniefield states, "I challenge you to set incredibly high goals. I challenge you that, even though the title says “leader,” you understand that leader also means being right by yourself rather than wrong with the rest of the crowd."
