RAIN Magazine Public Reading and Reception: 40th Anniversary Edition

Clatsop Community College (CCC) is pleased to host the annual RAIN Magazine Public Reading and Reception Thursday, May 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the CCC Art Center Gallery.  Complimentary copies of the 2008 40th Anniversary Edition will be available at that time.  A number of the magazine’s contributors will read from the magazine. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the North Coast literati in action.  Original artwork will be displayed, and refreshments will be served courtesy of The Blue Scorcher Café and Bakery.

RAIN 2008 features the writing of Vincent Reynolds, Luc Fenix, Claudia Harper, Patrick Overton, Jacqui Horton, Anne Nixon, Sue Falkner Wood, Bruce Dustin, Alex Dustin, Dwight Norfleet, Amy Willis, Robert Michael Pyle, Barbara Stoffer, Tricia Gates Brown, Casey Ruic, Reba Owen, Donald Thompson, Sunny Cook, James Dott, Dave Densmore, Pat Densmore, Jan Bono, Shawn Hunter and many more.  This year's artwork includes Andrew Cier, LaRee Johnson, Kirsten Horning, Ben Hunt, Stacy Smith, Patience Wubben, Philip Smith, and others.  This year's magazine includes a special section Having Everything Right, which documents the recent Kim Stafford visit to Astoria, and features writing, transcription and artwork from community members who shared their local wisdom during that week: Kim Stafford, Peter Lindsey, Neil Maine, Richard Rowland, Tom Horning, Robert Adams, Steve Forrester, David Campiche, Royal Nebeker, Robert Michael Pyle, Carol Knutson and more.

Finally, long-time fans of RAIN won't want to miss a walk down the memory lane of RAIN.  Our special 40th Anniversary insert features thumbnails of covers published 1968-2008, plus a few peeks inside this historic tradition.   Please come help celebrate 40 years of RAIN.  Or look for the magazine on campus or at bookstores and coffee shops throughout the Coast.  First copy is FREE, but donations are always welcome and needed.
