Clatsop Community College Presents “We the People: The Durability of the US Constitution”—A Panel Discussion

In recognition of National Constitution Day, Clatsop Community College (CCC) will present “We the People: The Durability of the US Constitution,” a panel discussion of the features of the United States Constitution that have led to its robust continuous role in the history of the country. The program begins at Noon, Thursday, September 25th, 2008 in Room 101 of the Art Center Gallery at CCC's Astoria Campus.

The 50-minute event includes a panel of historians and legal experts commenting on the resilience of the Constitution. Panelists include Debbie Kaspar, recently retired from the faculty at the college; Patrick Kane, newly appointed to the CCC faculty; Steve Berk, CCC board director and retired history professor; and Josh Marquis, District Attorney for Clatsop County.

Panelists look forward to a lively discussion among themselves and with the audience about the factors that have enabled this constitution to persist when many other documents guiding governments have not. Those attending will have an opportunity to offer their perspective on the Constitution's durability and to ask questions.

CCC’s Art Center Gallery, located at 1653 Jerome Ave. in Astoria, OR, is ADA accessible. This presentation is open to the public and admission is free. For more information, contact Dean Tom Gill at (503) 338-2368.

Clatsop Community College is an affirmative action, equal opportunity institution.
