Preliminary Conceptual Designs Skip
Stanaway, Emily Dawson, and Kendall Harris of SRG Partnership,
architects for the College’s Jerome
Campus Revelopment Project, provided preliminary conceptual design
information at a public meeting held on Thursday, October 15.
|
 |
Skip reviewed the Master Plan Goals. It was recommended that
sustainability be added to the list of goals. |
 |
Skip also provided definitions for
gross and net square feet, and construction and total project
costs to clarify the distinctions between them. |

|
The function layout shows how the
academic areas form a framework through which students, faculty
and staff pass to foster interaction. |

|
Pedestrian
linkages, gathering spots, auto access, view analysis and
preservation, and building entrances were explained. |

|
So how could the College accomplish
the long-term master plan? The next three slides show how this
might be accomplished in three phases along with a three-dimensional
representation of how the campus might look after completing
Phases 1 and 2. |

|
Currently, the College has $14.3 million to spend
on the campus redevelopment project so several options were
considered. Each option presented includes estimates for Total
Project Cost, a brief description of the work to be completed,
net square footage information, and program uses that would
probably not fit into the option.
Option
1 considers the use of portable classrooms.
|

|
Option 2 is the Renovate Towler, Shop Expansion
option.
|

|
Option 3 is the Replace Patriot and Fertig
with Minor Towler Renovation work.
|
 |
Option 4 is the Renovate Towler, New Building
option
|

|
Option 5 is the Renovate Towler,
New Building – Science
|

|
Skip then provided a summary of the pros and
cons of options 2 through 5 and answered questions from the
audience.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 27 at
4:00 pm in Patriot 326. Comments are welcomed at the e-mail
