The Plus Program is a Student Support Services project
at Clatsop Community College


The Plus Program is a 100% US Department of Education funded TRIO/Student Support Services project. It receives $278,333 annually.


Our goals are to increase the college retention, graduation and transfer rates of eligible students.

Plus Program services include:

  • Academic and career exploration and advising. The Plus Program helps you to create a plan to achieve your academic and career goals.
  • Transfer assistance and campus visits. Transferring is complicated! We know how to help. Campus visits to Oregon and Washington colleges to help you decide which school is right for you.
  • Financial aid and scholarship exploration and assistance, including some aid available only to Plus Program participants.
  • Tutoring. We offer both individual and group tutoring to help you succeed.
  • Technology support. We have office computers for student use; laptop computers for use at home; graphing calculators and tape recorders for loan.
  • Cultural activities. We have tickets available to local musical, dramatic, artistic and educational programs.
  • Social Support. Plus Program participation offers an opportunity to meet new friends and get support for your transition to college life.

How do you qualify for the Plus Program?
The students served by the Plus Program must meet the following eligibility guidelines, as defined by the U.S. Department of Education:

  • You must be an admitted, degree-seeking student at Clatsop Community College with need for our services and be one or more of the following:
    1. first-generation college student (neither parent graduated from a 4-year college) or
    2. low-income according to federal guidelines or
    3. have a documented disability which impacts your ability to participate in the educational experience.

Plus Program Students
Plus Program students are people who are working hard to achieve their goals. They are older, younger and in-between; with families and without; students who always wanted to go to college but never thought they could; students who know exactly what they want to do and students who need help figuring out which path to choose.
